Abstract:

The papers in this document were produced during an eight-week Workshop held at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine from September 1 to October 26, 1988. Ten participants were invided from six African countries - Burundi, Liberia, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria and Senegal. The central aim of the Workshop was to produce a number of detailed studies based on the data collected recently under the international program of Demographic and Health Surveys organized by the Institute for Resource Development.
