Update provides data on key indicators related to optimal feeding practices of children under five. The Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) years of age based on the latest UNICEF and WHO guiding principles including new summary IYCF indicator for children 6-23 months. The Update reports on DHS survey data collected between 1998 and 2004 from 43 countries in 5 regions around the world: sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa/West Asia/Europe, Central Asia, South/Southeast Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean. The feeding practices include early and continued breastfeeding practices, feeding of solid and semi-solid foods to breastfed and non-breastfed children, micronutrient intake, and feeding during diarrhea.
